Prior to transport
Good preparation is key
Our wellness process begins with proper preparation. In close consultation with you, we make sure your horse is ready for the trip. We provide all the necessary information and offer tips for optimal preparation.
Our vehicles are carefully inspected, cleaned and disinfected before each trip. They meet all safety standards so that your horse is transported comfortably and protected.
During transport
Continuous care and attention
Prolonged transportation can cause stress, which is why we strive for a stress-free experience. Our experienced drivers and attendants provide constant supervision to ensure the well-being of your horse.
Forage
Your horse will have access to roughage from a hay net while traveling. This helps gut function and distracts from potential stressors. Optimal intestinal function reduces the risk of colic.
Movement space
To avoid conditions such as Shipping Fever, it is important that your horse can move sufficiently with the neck down. We make sure your horse has enough space to do this.
Ground cover
It is important that the bottom be thickly covered with ground cover. This way, your horse will have less trouble urinating, and the air and equipment will stay nice and clean and not get slippery.
Regular stops and water
We schedule regular stops – at least every 4.5 hours – to observe your horse, offer fresh water and give rest periods. It is important that your horse gets enough fluids and therefore drinks well on the road.
Rest in the stable
After up to 18 hours of travel, we provide a rest at a stable along the way where your horse can take a break, rest and exercise. At the stable, your horse will also regain access to water and roughage.
After transport
Unloading and aftercare
Upon arrival, your horse will be unloaded with the same care. We ensure a smooth transition, with plenty of time and space for adjustment.
Nutrition and Hydration
After transportation, we take into account any shortages. For horses that have been transpiring intensively, we offer electrolytes, but only if needed.
Fatigue and Resistance
Prolonged transportation can cause fatigue. We recommend that you monitor your horse closely after arrival, pay attention to possible weight changes and support immunity.
